Kidnapped Rat Makes Miracle Escape!
Police Intensify Bird-Hunt

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (8/12/10):  In an amazing turn of events, The Rat was able to escape from his kidnapper, and has returned home safe and sound, to the relief of his friends, neighbors and families.
Sometime late this afternoon, Mrs. Rat received the phone call that she would never forget.  “He said, ‘Honey, I’m OK, you can stop worrying about me now,” and I just broke down into tears of joy!  I then called my mother, who was watching our son Ratatouille, to tell her the good news, and I can’t get over how great it feels to have our family back together!”
According to the Rat, he never had a good glimpse of my kidnapper.  “I was at my desk at work, silently working away, when all of a sudden, I was hit in the head and blacked out.  When I woke up, I found myself hung on the wall of a dark, musty room.”

“I was scared, obviously.  There was nothing in the room except for a bunch of boxes.  I’m a fan of horror movies, and I thought to myself, ‘Am I living a reenactment of the first Saw movie?”  The Rat then went on to explain how, after some time, he fell asleep and when he woke, he was tied to a chair.
“That was their biggest mistake”, the Rat says with a small smile on his face.  “Whoever was responsible for this forgot that we Rats can chew our way through many materials. A rope was easy!  The other thing us Rats can do is dig!”  The Rat dug and burrowed his way for “what seemed like an eternity” until he reached an underground stream.  He followed that stream and ended up along the west shore of Irondequoit Bay.  “I then ran to Bill Gray’s up there by Sea Breeze, picked up the phone and called my wife, and here we are, together again!”
When we showed the Rat the pictures faxed to Police, he shuddered and said that he is just glad that this is behind him.

Authorities have issued a statement expressing great relief that this story has reached a happy conclusion.  However, the Police have now turned their efforts into determining and finding who was responsible for this kidnapping.  Information provided by the Rat, in his story of escape, have narrowed the search to the northeast quadrant of the city, and eastern Irondequoit.  “We will not rest until the perpetrators are found and brought to justice,” the statement reads.  “We will be ever vigilant in our efforts to restore public faith in their safety to live their lives peacefully.”
